I went to the Doves show for the times I wanted to see them when I was younger. I like their new songs, but britpop feels aged to me now. It’s hard to get excited about old sounds. I went to be comforted by sounds I grew up with. And so did half the city. The venue was packed, and even though their live version of There Goes The Fear doesn’t have the same magic of the recorded version, the show was like a big hug of 90s guitar rock.

One thing I loved; the new songs were some of the best sounding of the night.
