PHOTOS: Uffie and Ed Banger Crew
September 11

Some of my favorite music this year has come from Ed Banger Records, a new go-to for french house. I love them for artists like Justice, SebastiAn, and their consistently hot releases. Busy P aka Pedro Winter runs the label (before Ed Banger he was best known as Daft Punk’s manager). But their secret weapon is Uffie, a dirty rappin 18 year old phenom from Miami. Her songs have been showing up on indie kids’ myspace profiles since they came out, profiles of kids who never knew they liked house music. Listen up:

First up on the night was a performance from Ellen Allien & Apparat. Considering how much i love these two, they deserve their own entry, but I didn’t get to catch enough of their set, i was prepping for the interview.

This is Uffie with her DJ / producer / boyfriend Feadz, who is also young and talented.

This is Pedro, the label owner. He’s showing off his special Yo! MTV Raps edition kicks.

Most of the ensuing show was an intimate dance party on the stage with a second, bigger party in the rest of the club. weird.

This is Jay who works at Overdrive. What a loner.

  1. i really dig the ed banger crew. once i dicovered tommie sunshine it was all over. steve akoi, uffie, busy p, i can’t get enough. it’s a shame i can not follow them in n. america. wmc07 was very busy and i need a break. i will however will continue to produce tracks and maybe even send one in to ed banger rec. it would be great to throw a nice gig with the crew.
