Ed Banger Touring on now!
March 26

The wonderful ladies and gentlemen of Ed Banger Records are touring north america now. I got the chance to interview the crew when they brought Uffie to town last year (search “uffie” on mtv.ca to see the interview). They will be in Toronto on Friday, and I will be missing the show :( but there in spirit.

As long as the tour is going on, read about it on the Fader blog. Here’sd some of the photos Pedro and Mehdi have posted already:

This past saturday the tour hit San Francisco, and here’s a video from that show. Enjoy the new Justice song on there.

Masters of the Universe art show in Toronto
March 25

Unfortunately i will not be able to make it out to the MOTU art show in toronto this thursday. I will be away at the Juno awards. But this is going to be the coolest show! Check it out.

Also, the afterparty is Pay What You Can:

Also, Montreal’s DJ Seez just dropped this mix.

In The (French) House (Music)
March 23

There is something about France that appeals to me. I camped out at the Paris wikipedia page this past weekend. I like a place where temperatures float pleasantly between 10 and 25 degrees C all year. Also, ever since Charlamagne in the 9th Century, education’s been pretty readily available. Can I come over and get some education, France?

Something I enjoy about Parisian music is not simply that it’s great and unique, but it gets made in beautiful old apartment buildings above beautiful boulevards in Paris. I know, that’s supposed to be obvious, but I tend to picture myself listening to Daft Punk on Canadian hiways. Driving my ferrari.

As for french music, Daft Punk just announced a summer tour of North America, along with SebastiAn and Kavinsky. Non-frog dance maniacs The Rapture are coming with them.

For a taste of some great french music, try this song on for size:

Battles
March 21

I love technology, i hate technology. I lost my camera charger, again. Now many photos are stuck on my camera. I’m thinking maybe this is a sign. Take less photos. I don’t need to enjoy everything twice. Shouldn’t the first time around be good enough?

I used to listen to bands like The Sick Lipstick and Black Cat #13 and Swing Kids and Crimson Curse and really really love how fresh and new it sounded to me. Something in this band Battles hits the same notes. I also really like the idea of large glass cubes. Could I live in one?

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm
March 19

This is the video for The Arctic Monkeys’ new single, Brianstorm. Their new album Favourite Worst Nightmare comes out April 24th (23rd internationally).

Here’s my favorite part of the Arctic Monkeys’ wikipedia entry:

The cover sleeve of Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, showing Chris McClure, a friend of the band, smoking a cigarette, was criticised by the head of the NHS in Scotland for “reinforcing the idea that smoking is OK”. The cover of the CD itself is a shot of an ashtray full of cigarettes. The band’s product manager denied the accusation, and in fact suggested the opposite — “You can see from the image smoking is not doing him the world of good”.

this week i bought a “jughead and friends” issue of archie comics. jughead is my favorite. he is stylish, aloof, and can eat hundreds of burgers without gaining weight. to top it off, he has a frown crown.
