An obvious highlight of this summer’s Daft Punk tour was this refurbished version of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. They took the song one step further towards epic. The shows are being compiled on a live album due out next month.
The video was inspired by the beastie boys’ latest DVD (”wtf i shot that”), where they gave a bunch of camcorders to fans in the crowd and later paid some sick editor to make sense of all the footage.
Regrettably, seeing this video is nowhere near the experience the show was. Sorry if you missed it.
Fresh off regretting not seeing Simian Mobile Disco play live last month in Toronto, they released this new video for the biggest song of 2006, Hustler. Why they made the change i don’t know. Being creepy rocks, but it’s hard to beat the sexiness of the original:
Here’s why I do like the new version. It reminds me of one of my favorite videos ever. Chris Cunningham’s Windowlicker for Aphex Twin. Viewer discretion, seriously.
I was perusing E Beth’s amazing Microtard, only to find that a photo she took of me 4 years ago is being published in a British magazine (FUSED). Check this noise:
The first one is supposed to represent an incredulous reaction to something. Like someone would say, “No really, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts DON’T have sex with each other.”, and you would say “(this gif)”
Thanks to Roc-A-Fella records, 2007 has been a total turnaround for rap videos. Blue Magic may throw some obvious ideas in the mix, but Jay has managed to steer clear the recent recipe for rap videos: mix 5 cliches in a bowl and blend.
Europeans are making me feel inadequate. Would somebody please step their game up on this side of the pond? Just wait for Pilotpriest & More Proof to start making videos. Just wait.
So Converse finally did it. They captured my life perfectly. Are all advertisements in Europe this nice looking and effective? I already use your product, Converse. You didn’t need to be this good.
Product association is the key here - another product I love is pictured, the Pioneer 1000 DJ decks. Maybe this will be a new trend, companies putting iPods and all sorts of sought-after products next to their own in ads. I hope not, but for now, this is synergy.
