DFA Records is going to come back this year even bigger than ever, and it all starts with Andrew Butler’s new project Hercules & Love Affair. Watch for the debut album this spring.
Spongebob, Wu Tang, Crank Dat, and now the latest regional dance to hit YouTube is Tecktonik. That’s Jey Jey in his garage “speed vogueing” and racking up 6.5 million views. Parisan youth can’t get enough of this stuff.
Toronto’s own Colin Munro did this remix of Kanye’s new single Flashing Lights. It’s making some waves - especially since Ye posted it on his site Tuesday.
Colin’s first single made a bit of a splash on YouTube last summer (perhaps because of its cool d.i.y. video). He’s already an established urban music producer (i.e. Kardinall Offishall), and this new solo album is ready for release by superstar producer Dallas Austin worldwide. Toronto boy done good.
If you live in Toronto go see Colin performing live at Clinton’s tomorrow night - probably a good “before he hits big” look.
Melbourne’s KROZM. Apparently this is a year old - why haven’t I seen it?
I don’t know exactly what’s up here, but word is Kenny Dope helped signed the Doo Dew Kidz to Strictly Rhythm and now they are called 410 Pharaohs. This is still Baltimore club music, this is that feelin music, and this video is officially doing it.

Next month Sébastien Tellier’s Sexuality will be released, produced in Paris by Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo (yes, of Daft Punk).
While Tellier is best known for dark introspection, this new track “Divine” has been described by Sébastien as “a tribute to the Beach Boys … It’s about a time of innocence – when having fun was more important than picking up girls.”
Let the sun beat down on you this February:

p.s. Word is a Midnight Juggernauts remix is coming soon?
Hot off Carl Wilson’s book exploring the nature of how annoying she is, this person has compiled this video of the best moments from Celine Dion’s double disc DVD documentary:
