Portland Oregon. Nike World HeadquartersApril 16

Last week we visited Nike headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Nike is playing a larger than ever role in the Beijing Olympic games this August, so they wanted to show off some of the new technology that athletes will be competing with.
Fashion junkies will take notice of the other Nike launch happening in August, but I can’t talk about that yet. You’ll hear more on MTV this summer as well as right here (and every good streetwear blog) next month.

Nike campus. In between the man made lakes, there’s buildings named after sport legends. We spent most of our time in the Tiger Woods building, played basketball in the Bo Jackson gym, and walked by the Ken Griffey Jr. and Michael Jordan buildings. At any given time, among the offices you’ll see Jordan’s 69 point ball (click to watch a video of it), Pre’s runner, Ben Johnson’s spike, or Bo’s equipment.

Oh, and the cafeteria is a sports pub with autographed photos all over the walls:

Kobe Bryant showed up to introduce his new sneaker the Hyperdunk. Since last week this has been made famous by Kobe’s Hyperjump viral video.

The labs where they design and test all of the materials are usually off limits to cameras and tours, but they let us in to see all of their motion capture equipment and fabric swatches. It’s a science lab for sneakers.

Sandy Bodecker’s amazing office

Thanks to everyone who rocked on the trip, especially Curtis, Tim, Mike, Jane, Hernan, Peace Magazine, Inquiringmind, and Karen at Flare.
DJ AM In Glamour MagazineApril 10
Glamour is up on how DJ AM is the incredible DJ with an incredible story. Having the chance to hear it straight from him is a nice touch. It’s officially the last place I expected to read this.
I have to mention, Soccer Mom Monthly is working hard to sell magazines. The story better not be as embellished / sensationalized as the “I put a gun in my mouth and pulled the trigger” headline suggests. Really, Glamour. This is where we’re at now, is it.
p.s. Come and see me DJing the drake underground tomorrow! Flyer
Fader F2 x Jokers Of The SceneApril 10

Fader just launched f2 magazine, their new online quarterly that allows them to get title-sponsors to write checks. Jokers of the Scene are featured as well as Cut Copy.
I hesitate to admit to this level of ADD, but I really like the miniature magazine format. Something I can read in ten minutes or less.

Listen to their Myspace for all of their stuff (recommended)
p.s. I have been in Portland at Nike world headquarters all week previewing this fall’s new new shit. Big props and thank yous to Mike, Jane, Hernan and Nike. I’ll post pics soon.
Oh, and don’t watch me. Watch Kobe’s feet.
The Weather is Getting Warmer.April 3
Dear Spring,
You took way too long to come this year, but I don’t hold it against you because it made me realize how much you fucking rock. This new Goldfrapp song sums up this moment pretty well:
Matt NordstromApril 2
Good producers are dripping out of every nook and cranny lately. Rock on, Virginia’s Matt Nordstrom. Check out The Way It Is, his Run DMC joint:

What, you thought it would be Bruce Hornsby related?
My boy Neoteric drops Matt’s Ritalin in his March mix that is worth a long look if you like it hard:
