Thanks to our friends at Nike, I just got back from Beijing where we shot the launch of Nike Sportswear. We also shot a travelogue, so we got a great chance to see all the sites we wanted to see. Watch for both soon on MTV.
And yes, we were there for the earthquake. Even though Beijing is 800 km from the epicenter, a glass wall in our hotel lobby still managed to shatter in front of us. Unreal.
I have a lot more photos to show, so I’ll keep posting them up here over the next couple of weeks.
Special thank yous to Jane and Nike Canada, Foetus, J. Keenan, Peace magazine, Marcus, What’s Really Good, Inqmnd, and all the media we shared our time with.
The Nike Sportswear line is all about bringing back classic looks, check out these hoodies.
The haze is unbelievable.
Yes, the shop at the top of the Great Wall has beers.
Speaking of Yo Majesty, after seeing the live show this month, I talked to one of them about my friend Mercedeez Benz. Benz spent a wild weekend in the studio in Montreal with the girls last year.
She was excited I brought him up. Apparently the track Hey There Girl is one of her favorites on the album, which drops in August.
While I was in Vancouver, Neoteric, Devro and I accumulated and armful of stamps barhopping around town. We saw Does It Offend You Yeah and half of Yo Majesty live, then checked out what seemed like every nightclub in town.
Had to include this - you look amazing Paul. I met MY!GAY!HUSBAND! in Van. The day I was there his sweet loft was in the “Homes & Decor” section of the local 24. If you don’t know, 24 is a daily paper directed towards the workin ladies. Check out that headline.
This month I travelled to EA’s vancouver offices to meet some of the developers behind next year’s EA Sports games. Watch for some sneak peaks on MTV Live in the coming months.
We caught glimpses of every game, but the general theme was that there was still one ‘killer’ feature in every title that they couldn’t tell us about.
This year looks to be all about the Wii’s All Play series - every sports game on the Wii is going to include a deep party mode on top of the usual sports game. Party on, Wii.

My highlight is when D.A.N.C.E. comes on the radio and the hoodlums get so pissed. Is Justice already feeling the burn of having a big hit? It took 12 years for people to stop yelling “Creep” at Radiohead, and I bet it still happens now and then.
