This Week in…Fashion Week

Last week was Toronto Fashion week. Local designers’ showing off their clothes, and the fashion industry thinking they really know how to throw a party.

The highlight was Philip Sparks’ bringing the gentlemanly knitwear and ye olde teeshirts. Your regular old modern tee is boring me lately, I like his 19th century look.

The real party was the music in Toronto this week. Justice came through, yes, on the myspace tour, but their DJ set at a fashion week offshoot party is what people are talking about. I talked to them a little bit before the set - watch for the interview on MTV Live soon.

Meanwhile Avery brought So Me’s first ever art show to the city. A gallery filled with prints making fun of Busy P. More proof that So Me has the right attitude.

That was just the beginning. Simian Mobile Disco’s set at circa was the best club music I’ve heard at that venue. If you get the chance to see them DJ, do it.

The highlight of the week was DJ AM and Team Canada DJs at Guvernment. Make no mistake, just because DJ AM has dated every hot celebritard in LA doesn’t say much about his DJing. He killed it in one of the biggest rooms in the city.

His boys the Team Canada DJs are my new favorite DJs. They’ve gone from being two of the world’s best mashup DJs to being so much more. i think that the Gang Starr Full Clip remix at

Grandtheft’s Myspace

is a must listen. We talked to them for MTV Live too, stay tuned bitches. And go see these guys.

To celebrate that remix, here’s a throwback joint:
