Last night was unreal. So I stole Nicole’s photomachine and took some pics!
Holler at the good pals I saw and didn’t see… Lucky, Nicole, Choch, Dan, James, Jayme, CLAWWWW, Dave and Laura, Mia, Jokers of the Scene, MTVers, and Fefe.
Thanks to our friends at Nike, I just got back from Beijing where we shot the launch of Nike Sportswear. We also shot a travelogue, so we got a great chance to see all the sites we wanted to see. Watch for both soon on MTV.
And yes, we were there for the earthquake. Even though Beijing is 800 km from the epicenter, a glass wall in our hotel lobby still managed to shatter in front of us. Unreal.
I have a lot more photos to show, so I’ll keep posting them up here over the next couple of weeks.
Special thank yous to Jane and Nike Canada, Foetus, J. Keenan, Peace magazine, Marcus, What’s Really Good, Inqmnd, and all the media we shared our time with.
The Nike Sportswear line is all about bringing back classic looks, check out these hoodies.
The haze is unbelievable.
Yes, the shop at the top of the Great Wall has beers.
This month I travelled to EA’s vancouver offices to meet some of the developers behind next year’s EA Sports games. Watch for some sneak peaks on MTV Live in the coming months.
We caught glimpses of every game, but the general theme was that there was still one ‘killer’ feature in every title that they couldn’t tell us about.
This year looks to be all about the Wii’s All Play series - every sports game on the Wii is going to include a deep party mode on top of the usual sports game. Party on, Wii.
Last week we visited Nike headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Nike is playing a larger than ever role in the Beijing Olympic games this August, so they wanted to show off some of the new technology that athletes will be competing with.
Fashion junkies will take notice of the other Nike launch happening in August, but I can’t talk about that yet. You’ll hear more on MTV this summer as well as right here (and every good streetwear blog) next month.
Nike campus. In between the man made lakes, there’s buildings named after sport legends. We spent most of our time in the Tiger Woods building, played basketball in the Bo Jackson gym, and walked by the Ken Griffey Jr. and Michael Jordan buildings. At any given time, among the offices you’ll see Jordan’s 69 point ball (click to watch a video of it), Pre’s runner, Ben Johnson’s spike, or Bo’s equipment.
Oh, and the cafeteria is a sports pub with autographed photos all over the walls:
Kobe Bryant showed up to introduce his new sneaker the Hyperdunk. Since last week this has been made famous by Kobe’s Hyperjump viral video.
The labs where they design and test all of the materials are usually off limits to cameras and tours, but they let us in to see all of their motion capture equipment and fabric swatches. It’s a science lab for sneakers.
Sandy Bodecker’s amazing office
Thanks to everyone who rocked on the trip, especially Curtis, Tim, Mike, Jane, Hernan, Peace Magazine, Inquiringmind, and Karen at Flare.

I told Sharlene i would be secreting a marriage to Zooey Deschanel and she should keep that in mind while she’s at SXSW.
Apparently Dizzee didn’t get the memo in 2003 to stop innovating, because he is still one of the freshest things in Hip Hop. Earth to North America: stop sleeping on Dizzee Rascal.
And way to get Mike Skinner aka the streets in your video. He hasn’t disappeared, in fact he just wrote about his next album on his myspace:
I am working on this at the moment but don’t know what it will be called. The biggest song on it, so far, is called ‘Everything Is Borrowed’. I know the title sounds like a Kaiser Chiefs song but I promise it will be better than that. I’ve pretty much kept my promise that I made to myself not to reference modern life on any of them though which is hard to do and keep things personal at the same time. I am working very very hard.
Everywhere I go I’m being told to check out Black Kids. Here’s who they sound like, here’s why they’re cool, forget that - their EP is available for free on their website and myspace.
How long did it take music to figure this out? Oh, and the music is good too.
