So Pitchfork barely reviews the Black Kids album, and it’s the story of the day at the office. It’s one of those times where you want to hate Pitchfork for being snobby and bratty, but it’s spot on.
Poor Black Kids, not much of a band and an unfortunate smear on my memory of this year’s Cut Copy show. I’m sorry you got so much hype.
So what to make of Scott Plagenhoef’s resolutely lazy, unfunny and fundamentally disrespectful review of Black Kids’ “Partie Traumatic” today? You’ll give paragraph after paragraph to an unknown demo, but take said band’s major-label debut as a smirky in-joke among your staff? Give them the 3.3 if it’s warranted. But have something to say regarding how or why it’s deserved beyond this narcissistic, juvenile-Dave Eggers bit of self-reflection.
No one actually considers US Magazine journalism, but they do have enough power to move Diddy to make a Youtube video.
There’s no question I’m going to give this to Diddy, but he will never take down the behemoth that is US. May this beef live on, and long live Diddy TV.
Monday morning at my desk I tend to watch the replay of 106 & Park. last couple of weeks this guy Johnny Ka$h has been killing the freestyle fridays. this guy brings some heat, i suspect he could be the one who makes it big. bigger than Jin! ok sorry Jin, i got you.
i wish youtube wouldnt pull all the videos of his old stuff, its amazing! here’s the must see, last week the challenger got disqualified for cussing, and Ka$h kills him anyways:
I have a special spot for Michael Jackson. Growing up, he was one of the first artists i was really into. i think i was 4 or 5. I still love him, even though i would probably have nightmares if i saw him on the street. scary. effin. dude.
I love youtube, and here it is: rap beef hits the ‘tube. you knew it would happen. 50 brings an interesting video to the table, but cam really does what cam does best here. killa cam kills. i dont know if a mainstream dude like 50 will be hurt by cam’s reply, but i love cam’s song, and he managed to get me excited about his new record with the little sneak preview at the end of his video. we’ll see if this goes further. show some courtesy, curtis.
Here’s how it all started:
here’s how 50 took that phone call:
and cam hits back, curtiss:

while we’re on the topic of hip hop, here’s another new vid, nas’s cant forget about you
